obel Prize winner Kip Thorne served as a scientific advisor for the film and provided the mathematical equations used to generate the visual model of the black hole, Gargantua. The resulting computer rendering was so accurate that when real scientists later captured the first actual photograph of a black hole, it looked almost identical to Nolan's representation.
